Pump Lot Irrigation Maintenance

You may have noticed that the pump lot lawn is having problems. We had a work party on the 3rd to evaluate the existing sprinklers, and to run some hoses with sprinklers to water the lot in until we could organize a group to replace the non-functional sprinkers on the lot. Thanks to Dave Shea, Paul Ziemer, Vern Jackson, Joe Plaisted, and Nathan Tenney for their work last weekend. As a result of our evaluation, we are having a sprinkler replacement party at the Pump Lot this weekend, August 10th starting at 7 am. We have around 15 sprinklers to replace, so we’d love to have as many people as possible to help out. If you can be there, bring a shovel. Thank you for your assistance.

Just to recap:

  • When: Saturday, August 10th, 7 am
  • Where: Pump Lot
  • What: Work party to replace 15 non-functional sprinklers. If you have them, bring shovels (both gardening and regular).

2019 KID Voluntary Watering Schedule

IMPORTANT, Please Read!

KVHA home owners,

By now you may have received a notice from the Kennewick Irrigation District advising that snow-pack levels are currently unseasonably low and that voluntary watering reductions are being recommended. Mandatory restrictions may be necessary later in the summer.

The KVHA Board has been in contact with KID and has discussed our existing schedule verses KID’s reduction schedule which is based upon ending house number digit. KID has agreed that should mandatory rationing be required, Keene Village (LID 148) will remain on its existing schedule. This is the same process followed in 2015 when a similar drought issue arose.

Two key points:

  • Please do not “voluntarily” adopt KIDs voluntary schedule; our system is undersized and does not tolerate additional homes on the system at one time; approximately half the homes in Keene Village either end in “0” or “5”. Consequently, if we were forced onto the KID schedule, water pressure would probably be unsatisfactory.
  • KID has our schedule. If mandatory restrictions are enforced, KID has the authority to levy penalties or disconnections to homeowners who violate the established (our) schedule. KID will view KVHA homeowners watering outside of our schedule as a potential violation and subject to penalties. Bottom line: if mandatory restrictions are announced, homeowners are advised not to water outside of their assigned time.

The KVHA Board will keep you informed of developments regarding the irrigation schedule as the summer progresses.

2017 Meeting Minutes and website changes

Sorry for the delay in updating and posting the 2017 Annual Meeting packet. The software that I had been using to manage this site stopped working. After some time trying work arounds, and then searching for a replacement, I’m finally ready to move forward with updates. There will probably be some further tweaking of the look and feel of the site, but I felt like we needed to post the minutes online, and provide another location for getting the watering schedule. You may view the packet [here](/docs/2017/KVHA 2017 packet.pdf).

Additionally, I wanted to comment on the renewed Sewer LID discussion. For the record, we chose one weekend to go around and try to talk with as many homeowners as we could. While we didn’t meet with every homeowner, a significant enough portion of the ones we did reach were against the formation of an LID for the purpose of getting city sewer stubs run to each home in the neighorhood. We informed the city that there was not enough interest in forming and LID at this time, and the city moved forward with their plans to update the water service in our neighborhood. The board would like to thank everyone we met with for sharing their opinion with us, and I personally would like to thank the board members who took time out of their weekend to canvas the neighborhood.
